Now it’s” Our Next Big Climb"

Wow! 12 years, 12 years of hard work, 12 years of perseverance, 12 years of dedication. Class of 2007, we've finally made it, but not without the help of our parents, teachers and mentors along the way. Maybe what they did for us was that they were a tugboat and we're the ship, and they pushed us to the sea where we have to sail by ourselves.
Many of us have been together through elementary, middle and high school, and we have all had to work hard and remain focused to be where we are today. All change happens in a minute. Your life changes in a moment. Something triggers you and you finally make a decision and it all shifts. As years go by, your body is going to change, your relationships are going to change, and your attitude is going to change. Change is automatic, but progress is not. Our progress has brought us here tonight, and tonight will become one of those moments that we will cherish forever.
I have been in Taekwando couple of years ago, and I remember my Taekwando instructor, Mr. Kwang, sitting everybody down during a black belt testing and telling us, "Earning a black belt is very much like climbing a mountain. You work hard, and eventually you'll work your way up to the top. But once you're there, your journey is not over; it simply has just begun. And you realize that there are other mountains for you to climb." As I now reflect back, I realize that school is very much the same.
Our first mountain was a long, yet a fun, 12-year climb. Like all of the other unforgettable moments, this climb, in about 90 minutes or so will come to an end. We have finally reached our high school mountain top, and for a lot of us our next big climb may be to go to college. And for some of us, our next big climb may be to get a job, to travel around the world, start a new business, or even a career. But our first big climb, our 12-year climb, is finally over.
Thank you ICS for all of your amazing memories. Thank you parents, teachers, and coaches for your never-ending support and your simple love for teaching. Thank you discipleship group. Class of 2007, our final chapter, like that of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, is unfortunately coming to an end.
Right now I know all of you are feeling scared yet excited at the same time. Feeling good about yourself comes from doing things that are incredibly difficult and overcoming them. That's the only way you feel good about yourself. You don't feel good about yourself by sliding by, you feel good about yourself by overcoming huge odds. That's where you have inner pride. When you talk about things, it's a dream. When you envision it you get excited, when you plan for it, it's possible, but when you do it, it's real. I am so scared of how real this is right now. We all are about to embark on a journey and take our final step off of Mount ICS, and take our first step together, towards our unforgettable future.
